Dhakshini started off her career as a pharmacist after graduating from University of Sydney. She subsequently went on to do her postgraduate medical degree at Monash University in Melbourne. She returned back to Sydney to do her internship and residency at Blacktown Hospital. Here she gained invaluable experience working in areas of Gastroenterology, Emergency Medicine, Emergency Surgery, Palliative Care, Cardiology, Medical Assessment Unit, Neurology, Rehabilitation Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Respiratory and Paediatrics. Her love for General Practice stemmed from her year placement as a medical student in a rural Victoria town, Maffra. Here she learnt about holistic patient care, continuity of care within a small community and exposed to a large variety of medical conditions. Within general practice, Dhakshini loves paediatrics, women’s health, sexual health, mental health, travel medicine, skin checks and minor surgical procedures. She has also completed her Diploma of Child Health with University of Sydney and Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network.
